Muculufa
The Muculufa is a hill in the Valley of Salso that rises gently to 200 meters but then abruptly jumps up to a jagged rocky ridge that reaches 355 meters. Here there are faint traces of life since the 3000 BC. The river that flows next to it is the Salso, and you have to imagine it navigable surrounded by a lot of forest to have a fundamental understanding of this vicinity in times past
Here we see 200 tombs and caves (carved in the rock), so typical in the Sicilian countryside. More importantly, a sanctuary was discovered here which aroused fascination among archeologists. Maybe it has been very important for the people that lived in this area.
In addition, a variety of pottery was found at the site, some of great stylistic beauty.
Of course, the big star of these interior lands of Sicily is the stunning countryside itself
